Tourist stamps II- Hafursey & Aldeyjarfoss

Hafursey is tuff mountain in northern Mýrdalssandur. Fulmars frequently gather there and the slopes are dominated by vegetation. These slopes were the resting place of tourists travelling over the beaten track of Mýrdalssandur. A cave in the western side of the mountain previously served as a shelters and night-quarters of tourists.

Aldeyjarfoss is a waterfall in the river of Skjálfandi in Bárðardalur. The waterfall is framed in beautiful basalt formations. The waterfall is about 20 meters. Skjálfandafljót is a glacial river, about 180 km. in length and the fourth longest watercourse in Iceland. There are many famous waterfalls in the river, especially Goðafoss. Aldeyjarfoss has long been considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Skjálfandafljót
