Battle of the Somme 1916 - 2016

The two-stamp block commemorates the centenary of the Battle of the Somme with one stamp devoted to Thiepval (with the interpretation center and the Memorial) and the Cathedral of Albert in 1915, a shell hit the dome supporting the statue, which bowed, but remained in a precarious balance, and one stamp devoted to Peronne, the museum castle and the first tank used by the English. On the block's background, Damien Cuvillier designed the aircraft Nieuport 17, poppies and a makeshift infirmary.
