Europa - Toys
This year's Europa stamps, which are issued by the Member States of the Organization of European postal companies, Posteurop, rely on the topic of toys. The Liechtenstein edition includes two special stamps and shows Liechtenstein play figures made in the 1940s, a "polar bear" (face value CHF 1.40) and a "goat" (face value CHF 1.40). The artistic implementation focuses on the actual purpose of the figures, playing. Thus, the images look like snapshots of childhood scenes: The polar bear enjoys the air in the freezer of the refrigerator and the goat climbs a lemon proudly.
The former toy factory in Schaan made other Krippenund animal figures for several years. First of all a kind of modeling clay was developed on the basis of diatomaceous through lengthy trials. This was pressed into metal molds and painted after curing by hand. The figures sold worldwide. In 1949 a founder of the company left the company. His partner merged under the name Spiwa with another company in the industry and produced some further years.
